Open Letter to Fans from Cavaliers Majority Owner Dan Gilbert

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his "decision" unlike anything ever "witnessed" in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don't deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

"I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE"

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our "motivation" to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that's simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown "chosen one" sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And "who" we would want them to grow-up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called "curse" on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former "King" will be taking the "curse" with him down south. And until he does "right" by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day....

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue....

Dan Gilbert
Majority Owner
Cleveland Cavaliers

Broussard has Now Picked Another Team....

Who hasn't he picked????

Broussard is now possibly the most ridiculous 'reporter' in sports. He has now said its close to a "done deal" with Chicago, New York, and Miami. Honestly - the guy must have no clue.

I'm not saying he is lying, but either hes getting fed information to keep the choice unknown (either by LeBrons team or ESPN- both have motives)or he is doing it himself but he has proven he does not know a darn thing.

It's funny that it has changed so much because you have to know that with the production and "special" he is putting on tonight his decision has to had been made for some time- sure he could change his mind at the last minute and change the plans, but odds are he isn't and hasn't so all this information is ridiculous.

I think a friend of C2L said it best:
"Does Chris Broussard know what he's talking about or is he just trying to get onto sportscenter every day?

He was the first to market with Bosh to Miami yesterday...but his
language is less certain today with the "its gonna be miami" thing.

Plus, I think ESPN wants to be wrong so they can blur the line further of journalism and sensationalist entertainment with this show tonight.

Who knows. Just hoping its NYC."

LeBron has said the choice will be annouced within the first 10 minutes of his special tonight... 8 hours and change to go...

Location, Location, Location...

After attempting to keep it a secret all day, the location of LeBron's Hour of Narcissism has been revealed: The Boys and Girls Club in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Let's attempt to cut through the speculation and look at some of things we do know about tomorrow night:

- The title of tomorrow's show has been confirmed: "The Decision"

- James will announce his plans within the first 10 minutes of the special, Norby Williamson, ESPN's vice president of production, told The Associated Press.

- ESPN reports Jim Gray, who was hand-picked by James' team, will interview LeBron. Which prompted this reaction from Bill Simmons, "Jim Gray did the '96 Olympic bombing, Tyson-Holyfield II, Artest Melee, Pete Rose '99 ASG and LeBron's Choice. He's the king of debacles."

- The show is not taking place in Connecticut because ESPN studios are located in Connecticut. This popular rumor fails to realize that ESPN headquarters is a 90 minute drive away in Bristol, CT. However, it should be noted that Greenwich, CT is home to many Knick players, including Allan Houston. It's also only 5.3 miles from the Knicks Practice Facility in Purchase, NY.

- Two Cablevision helicopters have been flown to the New York Knicks practice facility, according to numerous sources.

After the location was announced Twitter began to buzz:

Suns Forward Jared Dudley tweeted: Breaking News!!! My sources tell me Lebron will announce that he will be goin to the NY KNICKS tomorrow on ESPN.. This is serious.. WOW!!!!

Chad Ochocinco tweeted: #OCNNBREAKINGNEWS *Empire State of Mind* *wink* *wink*only the smart folk will put this together and figure out what i am talking about #6

A number of journalists continue to report that LeBron has been in regular contact with Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony (he's attending Anthony's wedding this weekend) who are said to be pressuring him to come to NY.

Amare wasn't shy about his recruitment this afternoon when he tweeted: @kingjames come join me @Amareisreal in NY, we can do something really special. "Oh let's do it" !!

It's all circumstantial, but a quick google search will show you that there are plenty of Boys and Girls Clubs in Akron, Cleveland, Chicago and Miami, but LeBron chose the one just a short chopper ride from NYC. The location is the one fact we know that we weren't supposed to know until tomorrow and certainly seems to be in the Knicks favor. It continues to appears more and more certain that LeBron James will be walking away from Cleveland.

The Situation Updated: Now that Wade and Bosh are Headed to Miami...

If you haven't heard - Wade and Bosh are to sign together in Miami.

Here are some updates on the current situation and what is going on around the rumor mill, facts and lies, and whats best:

1) The ESPN Rumor Mill is wild now for ratings:
ESPN now has a reason to report every rumor and flip flop on where LeBron will sign - they want the most viewers for today and tomorrow possible (even if all proceeds from tomorrow nights special go to charity). I don't trust a word they're saying.

2) Where is Miami getting this money from to potentially have LeBron join them?:
If its a sign & trade for Bosh, then, maybe they can work something out? ESPN at one point this morning was saying both Wade and Bosh were getting max deals, it looks like Bosh went out on his own (meaning no S&T from Toronto) and LeBron might be joining them. Everyone has to know that they don't have the room for 3 max - lets remember their situation:
Miami
Amount under the cap: $24.6 Million w/Wade re-signed; $26.9M if they also waive James Jones*.
Players: Dwayne Wade (player option of $17.1), Beasley ($4.9), James Jones ($4.6), Chalmers ($847K).
* If Jones waived, then $1.856M still counts on Heat's cap.

So this notion that all three will sign there is just far fetched. Wade and Bosh signed leaves them with $10M and change for LeBron- won't happen.

3) LeBron: "Shape the League," "Make the league better"
LeBron said that when they meet one of the main points he made was how they [the FA's] could potentially shape the league and make the league better.

What would be better than LeBron and Amar'e in NY VERSUS Wade and Bosh in Miami for the next 5-10 years.

4) The #3 Team in the East:
If he goes back to Cleveland, and I am not saying he won't, he would now have the third best team in the East behind Boston and now Miami (who still has about $10M to spend on role players once Wade and Bosh are signed) and this is just the East- I'm not even talking about LA or any other teams out West.

If I am LeBron, I have to look at NY and say- I have a bona-fide All-Star sidekick and room to grow my team for years to come in NY. If he signs with Chicago or Cleveland, what he has is the current team they have for the next few years. The Knicks? No Curry next year means back under the cap- means potential of Melo or Tony Parker coming, means potential of any number of FA's.

The best decision for LeBron? It has to be NYC.

As Thursday 9 p.m. Nears...

LeBron's "Team" is in place for a New York decision.

Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld.com reports, "Several sources indicated that James' advisors Maverick Carter and Randy Mims could be traveling to New York on Wednesday and sources have hinted that James will be joining them for the trip. Sources also said that Carter and Mims have been picking the Knicks' brains for details and information on their salary cap and free agent plans over the past few days."

The Knicks are Ready.

Kennedy again, "There have also been rumblings that the Knicks could be planning a large press conference for later this week. While the team should be officially announcing Stoudemire's five-year, $97 million contract signing, likely on Thursday, the scale of the event and extensive planning going into the press conferences indicates that something bigger may be happening in the Big Apple."

Amar'e May Have Sealed the Deal.

After being written off by the mainstream media throughout the free agency process, it appears that New York is still very alive in the LeBron sweepstakes. Many believe that the second meeting with New York and the addition of Amar'e Stoudemire to the Knicks' roster improved their pitch to the point that James could be leaning towards New York.

One source pointed out that Donnie Walsh is not a massive risk taker and that signing Stoudemire all by himself seemed out of character. The idea that James and Stoudemire are coming as a package deal makes more sense and lines up more with Walsh's approach.
