Magic Johnson, Larry Bird

Magic vs Bird - On LeBron's Future that is...

Newsday Reports:
Magic Johnson and Larry Bird may have written a book together, but they weren't on the same page Monday when asked where they would like to see LeBron James play next season.

In a telephone news conference to promote their new book, "When the Game Was Ours," Bird said he thinks James needs to stay in Cleveland, but Johnson likes the "buzz" James would create by coming to the Knicks.

"He's an incredible, incredible talent and he would bring a winning atmosphere to New York," Johnson said. "He would be someone the city is buzzing about and want to see. He would create an atmosphere where other players would want to play with him. At the end of the day, he would win a championship."

Bird: "I hope he stays in Cleveland. He means so much to that state. Plus, I like to see players stay where they were drafted."

Larry is that hometown guy, Indiana born and raised who happened to land in Boston and play out his career there. I think he would've been just as happy winning an NBA championship playing on an old outdoor dirt basketball court Jimmy Chitwood style as he was at Boston Garden.

Magic on the other hand embraced and loved the atmosphere of L.A.- he wouldn't have been happy outside the markets of LA, NY, and maybe Chicago or Boston. He knows what it is to be in the spotlight 24/7. You have to remember - Magic vs Bird would not have been Magic vs Bird if it was L.A. vs Cleveland. It's just not the same thing.

If LeBron wants his own Magic, he can come to NY and get it- NY vs LA, LeBron v Kobe- game on 2010.
