The New York Knicks have asked an all-star panel of boldface names to help recruit LeBron James and other top NBA free agents to make Madison Square Garden their new home. The committee includes Donald Trump, Spike Lee, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Boomer Esiason and Chris Rock, according to the New York Post.

"New York would be a great thing for LeBron," Trump told the Post. "He would take over the city ... I can tell you, LeBron, there is only one New York."

Rock also has his pitch all set: "You really want to live in Cleveland? That's what I would tell him. Where do you want to live?"

Knicks spokesman Barry Watkins confirmed the team's desire to have some of the celebrities meet with free agents and take them out on the town. "We are in the process of assembling a committee of friends of the Knicks who are many of the city's most successful winners and leaders [and] who have thrived in the world's greatest city," Watkins told the Post.

Other celebrities linked to the effort include Whoopi Goldberg, John McEnroe, Charlie Rose, Mark Messier, Phil Simms and various retired Knicks.

BTW, Chicago is not really called the Second City because its the second largest to NY, but moreso because "much of the city had to be rebuilt after the Great Chicago Fire of
1871."
